Breaking News: Ejimakor Criticizes Government's Response to Igbo Concerns

Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed frustration over what he perceives as unequal treatment of the Igbo ethnic group in Nigeria. In a statement on Wednesday, Ejimakor lamented that while other ethnic groups have seen their demands met by the government, the Igbo continue to face obstacles.

His comments come in response to the recent creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Tinubu, following demands from the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). The ministry aims to address the longstanding conflict between farmers and herders in the country.

In a social media post, Ejimakor wrote, "Every group, except #Ndigbo, easily gets what it demands. Does it have to be so hard being Igbo in Nigeria? Ndigbo, where’s thy #FavoriteSon?”

The announcement of the ministry follows MACBAN's rejection of a bill that sought to establish a national agency for ranching. Instead, MACBAN advocated for the creation of a Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, citing the need for a comprehensive approach to livestock management based on the Jega Report on Livestock Reform and Mitigation.

President Tinubu's decision to establish the ministry has sparked debates across the country, with critics like Ejimakor questioning whether the government's responses adequately address the concerns of all ethnic groups, particularly the Igbo.

The establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development underscores ongoing efforts by the Nigerian government to address agricultural and pastoral challenges amidst widespread calls for inclusive governance and equitable treatment of all ethnicities.
