FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Responds to Planned August 1 Protest

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced that his office has yet to receive any formal request for the use of Eagle Square for the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled to begin on August 1.

During a town hall meeting with FCT stakeholders, Wike stressed the importance of following proper channels for such requests, noting that no official communication has been made regarding the protest. He reiterated his firm stance against the protest, stating, "For those who want to protest on the 1st, the FCT is not available for such protests."

The town hall was attended by key figures including the FCT Minister of State Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, political representatives, and community groups. Wike's comments reflect ongoing tensions as the protest approaches, emphasizing the need for formal procedures and communication.
