A tragic mass shooting occurred at a birthday party in Florence, Kentucky, resulting in the deaths of four people and the gunman himself. The incident took place around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The shooter, 21-year-old Chase Garvey, also seriously wounded three others. According to WLWT5, Florence police responded to multiple calls about an active shooter at a home on Ridgecrest Drive at 2:51 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found seven people with gunshot wounds, four of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
The party was hosted by Melissa Parrett, 44, for her 21-year-old son. Parrett was among those killed, along with Shane Miller, 20, Hayden Rybicki, 20, and Delaney Eary, 19. The three injured victims were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and are in critical but stable condition.
The Independent reported that Garvey fled the scene by car, leading police on a brief chase that ended when he drove into a ditch. Officers found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
