Manchester United Agrees Deal to Sign Bologna Forward Joshua Zirkzee

Manchester United has reached an agreement to sign Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee for a fee just over £35 million (€42.5 million), surpassing the player's £33.6 million (€40 million) release clause.

Personal terms have been settled with Zirkzee, who has been representing the Netherlands at Euro 2024. The 23-year-old striker is expected to undergo a medical examination this week before finalizing a five-year contract, which includes an option for an additional year.

Zirkzee enjoyed an impressive season with Bologna, netting 12 goals and providing seven assists, contributing significantly to the team's qualification for the Champions League.

United manager Erik ten Hag sees Zirkzee as a valuable addition to the squad, providing competition for the center-forward position currently occupied by Rasmus Højlund.

Zirkzee began his professional career at Bayern Munich, where he made 17 appearances over three seasons. During his time at Bayern, he was loaned out to Parma and Anderlecht before making a permanent move to Bologna in August 2022.

The young forward made his debut for the Netherlands national team as a substitute in their 2-1 Euro 2024 quarter-final victory over Turkey and also featured briefly in their 2-1 semi-final loss to England.

Manchester United fans will be eagerly awaiting Zirkzee's arrival as the club continues to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season.
