Manchester United is gearing up for a monumental shift in their stadium infrastructure, with plans to construct a new arena capable of housing 100,000 spectators within the next six years. According to ESPN, the club aims to make a definitive choice by the end of this year on whether to build a brand-new stadium or redevelop the historic Old Trafford.
The ambitious project, estimated to cost over £2 billion, is projected to be completed by 2030. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of United, has voiced a preference for erecting a new venue on the current Old Trafford site, potentially utilizing the land behind the Stretford End for expansion.
In their planning process, United officials have been studying similar global projects, with a notable focus on the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and its associated redevelopment. This initiative represents a major investment in the club’s future and aims to enhance the matchday experience for fans while setting a new standard for stadium design.
