Netflix Raises Subscription Fees Again in Nigeria

In a move that has stirred considerable reaction, Netflix has once more raised its subscription fees in Nigeria, just three months after its previous price adjustment. This recent hike impacts all subscription tiers, reflecting a notable increase across the board.

The streaming giant explained that this increase is part of a strategy to boost revenue and support the expansion of its content offerings. Following the latest adjustment, Nigerian subscribers will now pay ₦7,000 monthly for Netflix’s Premium Plan, marking a 40% rise from the former rate of ₦5,000.

The Standard Plan, favored for its HD quality and multi-screen capabilities, has seen a 37.5% increase, climbing from ₦4,000 to ₦5,500. The Basic Plan has also risen by 21%, from ₦2,900 to ₦3,500. The Mobile Plan, the most affordable option, has seen the most significant hike, jumping 83% from ₦1,200 to ₦2,200.

This latest price adjustment follows a similar increase in April 2024, underlining Netflix’s ongoing strategy to enhance its revenue and further expand its content library for its Nigerian audience.
