According to Yabo, Tinubu was candid about the substantial financial resources he used to secure the presidency, saying, "I bought this seat I’m on with money." The cleric praised Tinubu for his honesty, stating, "Whoever pays the piper dictates the tune; isn’t Tinubu telling the truth?"
Yabo criticized those who sold their votes in the 2023 presidential elections, lamenting that they have now experienced the fallout of their decisions. He remarked, "You have eaten the spaghetti and macaroni you have been given to vote, and now it is finished, it’s all over."
The cleric's comments come just days after Tinubu claimed he financed his presidential campaign entirely with his personal funds, asserting that he did not rely on any cabals or sponsors. Tinubu, in a recent meeting, emphasized his self-funding approach and the divine support he felt guided his election.
Attempts to reach President Tinubu's spokespeople, Ajuri Ngelale and Bayo Onanuga, for a response to Yabo’s allegations were unsuccessful. Ngelale's contact was unreachable, while Onanuga’s calls were not answered.
As the nation reflects on these revelations, Yabo’s remarks have added a new dimension to the ongoing discussions about the integrity and financing of political campaigns in Nigeria.
