The attacker, described as wearing a black hood, reportedly stormed into the venue with a knife, causing chaos and panic among the children. Emergency services responded promptly, and the injured were rushed to three local children’s hospitals for treatment.
Local resident Colin Parry expressed his shock, comparing the scene to something out of a horror film. "It’s like something from America, not like sunny Southport," he told the BBC.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack as "horrendous and deeply shocking" and expressed his condolences to those affected. He commended the police and emergency services for their swift response and assured the public that he was being kept informed as the situation unfolds.
