Trump Courts Christian Voters with Controversial Remarks at Conservative Event

At a recent Turning Point Action event, former President Donald Trump made a provocative appeal to Christian voters, suggesting that their voting efforts would be unnecessary if he were re-elected. Addressing the crowd, Trump stated, "You won’t have to (vote) anymore. Four more years. You know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians." He emphasized that with his leadership, Christians would not need to vote again after his potential second term, asserting, “We’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote.”

Trump’s comments, which suggest that his re-election would somehow eliminate the need for future voting, come as he seeks to energize his base. He described Christians as a group that typically does not vote in high numbers and urged them to participate in the upcoming election to secure his position in the White House. “You have tremendous power, you just don’t know that,” he told the attendees.

This rhetoric echoes statements made by Trump in earlier campaign events, including a June address at the Faith and Freedom Coalition, where he suggested that Christian voters need not concern themselves with future elections if he were to win this November. “You gotta get out and vote. Just this time. In four years, you don’t have to vote, OK? In four years don’t vote, I don’t care,” he remarked.
