Social media activist Verydarkman has taken aim at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), accusing them of approving a purported “miracle soap” promoted by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministries (CMDM).
The controversy erupted after Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin claimed in a widely circulated video that his miracle soap had received official approval from NAFDAC, a statement that has drawn skepticism and criticism from various quarters.
In response, Verydarkman used his platform to express outrage and promised to confront NAFDAC directly for clarification on the matter.
“@nafdac_ng I will come to your office later to drop a petition. You must tell us the ingredients used in making soap that cures suffering since he is saying you approved it. As a pastor who claims God called him, you are selling powers that God gave you for free to your members? @nafdac_ng prepare yourselves, since you all want to be part of these dubious activities,” Verydarkman stated in a video caption.
The social media activist questioned the authenticity of the soap's claims and criticized Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin for allegedly commercializing spiritual gifts that should be freely given according to religious teachings.
NAFDAC, on its part, has not publicly commented on the approval of the miracle soap as claimed by the prophet. The agency is known for its stringent processes in approving products for public consumption and has previously cautioned against misleading claims of product efficacy.
Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin has not responded to the criticisms from Verydarkman or issued any further statements regarding the purported approval of the miracle soap by NAFDAC.
The controversy highlights ongoing concerns about the regulation of products with purported spiritual or miraculous benefits in Nigeria, as well as the responsibilities of religious leaders in promoting such products to their followers.
