Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni has responded to an X user who mocked him for greeting Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso, despite previously criticizing him on television.
The incident began when the X user shared a video showing Oseni approaching and greeting Cardoso at a function, suggesting that Oseni was "hustling" to greet the CBN governor. The video depicted Oseni walking over to Cardoso, who was seated, and engaging in a brief exchange.
In response to the post, Oseni took to social media to clarify the situation. He wrote:
"Absolute rubbish as usual, hustling to greet Cardoso! In case you don’t know, Cardoso, Dr. Nevin, and I have had many dinner meetings before he became CBN governor. Our last dinner together was Andrew Nevin’s Valedictory dinner at the home of the Spanish Ambassador in July 2023. He wasn’t CBN governor then. Keep living in delusion! Despite the fact that I know him doesn’t mean I will not criticize him when he goes wrong."
Oseni's response highlighted his prior relationship with Cardoso and emphasized that his professional integrity allows him to criticize public figures when necessary, regardless of personal acquaintance.
