Dele Momodu Slams Conspiracy Theories Surrounding #EndBadGovernance Protests

In a recent Twitter outburst, Dele Momodu, renowned publisher of Ovation magazine, has strongly dismissed the conspiracy theories circulating about the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in Nigeria. His comments come amid rising tensions and accusations aimed at various ethnic groups, including the Igbo community.

Momodu took to social media on Friday to refute claims that the protests, which have swept across Nigeria, are being orchestrated by external forces or specific ethnic groups. Addressing a comment from a supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Momodu described the conspiracy theories as "cheap blackmail" and emphasized that the dissatisfaction fueling the protests stems from widespread economic hardship and governmental inefficiency.

In his tweet, Momodu stated, "This unfortunate conspiracy theory was forwarded to me this morning by a Tinubu apologist. Here’s my response: It is all a cheap blackmail. The people are hungry while government is living large."

He further clarified that attributing the protests to ethnic instigation is misguided. "The Igbo are largely traders. They look after their own globally. Nobody instigated anyone or anything," Momodu asserted.

The media mogul urged his followers and the public to focus on the real issues at hand rather than diverting blame. "You guys should accept the reality that Tinubu has not done very well. Leave the Igbo out of your excuses. To ethnicize the protests is to be disingenuous."

Momodu's statement underscores the frustration felt by many Nigerians regarding the state of the nation’s governance and highlights the need for addressing the core issues driving the protests. His call for a rational and unbiased discussion aims to shift the focus back to the government's performance and the genuine grievances of the citizens.
