Fire Guts Two-Storey Building at Lagos State Government Staff Quarters

A two-storey building at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in Ogba, was engulfed in flames in the early hours of the morning. The fire, which broke out around 2:20 a.m., was traced to an electrical surge in the children’s room.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that the fire severely damaged the children’s bedroom and led to the loss of properties valued at millions of naira. Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that no casualties were reported and no injuries were sustained.

“The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Agency’s LRT, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service ensured that the fire was swiftly contained and extinguished,” Oke-Osanyitolu stated.

Following the incident, occupants of the building were advised on the proper use of electrical appliances to prevent future occurrences. The fire serves as a reminder of the importance of electrical safety in residential areas to protect lives and properties.
