Kamala Harris Criticizes Donald Trump Over Roe v. Wade Reversal, Vows Consequences at the Ballot Box

In a fiery speech at a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Vice President Kamala Harris sharply rebuked former President Donald Trump for his lack of remorse over the reversal of Roe v. Wade, which has significantly restricted women's access to abortion across the United States. Harris, officially confirmed as the Democratic presidential nominee at the ongoing Democratic National Convention in Chicago, made it clear that Trump's actions would not go unanswered.

"Yesterday, when asked if he regrets ending Roe v. Wade, Donald Trump, without even a moment’s hesitation, said, ‘No regrets,’" Harris stated, highlighting what she described as Trump's indifference. "Bad behavior should result in a consequence. Well, we will make sure he does face a consequence, and that’ll be at the ballot box in November."

Trump's comments, made during an interview with CBS News, have sparked outrage among many, especially as he boasted about achieving what he called an "undoable" feat. He reiterated that the federal government should not be involved in the abortion issue, insisting that it is best left to individual states—a position that has left millions of women without access to reproductive healthcare.

During her speech, Harris also took the opportunity to promote her plan for affordable housing, aimed at supporting first-time buyers, and to criticize Trump's "Project 2025" initiative. She warned that the plan, which includes tax breaks for billionaires and large corporations, could impose a national sales tax that would cost the average family nearly $4,000 annually.

Harris also expressed concern over the potential end of the Affordable Care Act, reminding Americans of the days when insurance companies could deny coverage to those with pre-existing conditions. "We’re not going back," she declared, emphasizing the importance of protecting healthcare access.

The vice president underscored the heightened stakes of the upcoming election, arguing that Trump has become even more dangerous as he seeks a second term. She referenced the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity and Trump's alarming promises to act as a dictator if re-elected.

Despite a brief disruption during her speech due to a medical emergency in the crowd, Harris remained focused and assured the audience that "we’re going to be OK," embodying the theme of mutual care and support that she said defines her campaign.

Harris, alongside her running mate Tim Walz, made a brief virtual appearance at the Democratic convention, where she praised President Joe Biden for his years of service and vowed that the Democratic ticket would prevail in the upcoming election. "This is not just about us versus Donald Trump," she said, her voice hoarse but determined. "This is about two very different visions for our nation. Ours is focused on the future."
