Napoli has reportedly proposed including Victor Osimhen in a swap deal to acquire Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. The Italian club’s interest in Lukaku comes amid dissatisfaction from Chelsea over the financial terms of their initial offer.
Napoli is said to have offered £25.6 million for Lukaku, but Chelsea is holding out for a fee closer to £40 million. To bridge the gap, Napoli has suggested including Osimhen, a move that could significantly alter the dynamics of the transfer negotiations.
Giovanni Manna, Napoli's sporting director, has been in London conducting talks with Chelsea officials to finalize the deal, according to The Times.
Lukaku, 31, remains one of Chelsea's highest earners, with a weekly salary of approximately £325,000, placing him alongside Raheem Sterling in terms of earnings. Despite his substantial wage, Lukaku last featured for Chelsea in May 2022.
During his previous tenure in Serie A, Lukaku achieved notable success, winning the Serie A title with Inter Milan in the 2020-21 season and reaching the Champions League final while on loan with the club in the 2022-23 season.
