The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a statement clarifying that it has not suspended Arik Air’s flight operations, despite recent media claims. According to Mr. Michael Achimugu, the NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Arik Air’s flights have continued as scheduled, with no impact on the airline’s ability to operate its remaining fleet.
The clarification comes after a court order led to the attachment of three Arik Air aircraft—identified as 5NMJF, 5NMJQ, and 5NBKX. Achimugu emphasized that this legal action is part of the NCAA's duty to comply with court rulings and uphold regulatory and safety standards, following the Supreme Court's determination of the case.
The NCAA's statement addresses misconceptions circulating about the grounding of the aircraft. It stressed that the court-ordered attachment does not equate to a suspension of Arik Air’s overall operations. Both the NCAA and the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development have not taken any action to halt the airline’s services.
The authority has called for public understanding and patience as Arik Air navigates this situation, ensuring that it operates with minimal disruption while complying with regulatory requirements
