The Anambra Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has called off the strike it initiated in response to the kidnapping of Dr. Stephen Ezeh. The decision to end the strike came after Dr. Ezeh was released from captivity on Saturday, August 24.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 25, and signed by the association's Chairman, Dr. Princeston Okam, and Secretary, Dr. Ifeanyi Obiaeli, the NMA announced the resumption of clinical services as of 8:00 a.m. on the same day.

"The total and indefinite strike called by the NMA Anambra Branch to protest the kidnap of our member, Dr. Stephen Ezeh, is hereby called off following his release. Clinical services resume at 08:00 hours on Sunday, August 25," the statement read.

The NMA expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their patience during the strike and hoped that such a situation would not occur again. The association also commended its members for their solidarity and perseverance in the face of ongoing challenges, particularly insecurity, and urged them to remain committed to providing healthcare services to the people of Anambra.
