Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel representing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has criticized President Bola Tinubu for allegedly perpetuating what he describes as former President Muhammadu Buhari’s legacy of disrespect towards the Igbo people.
Ejimakor expressed his discontent over the continued detention of Kanu, describing it as a profound affront to the Igbo community. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ejimakor stated, “Buhari’s legacy of insult to Ndigbo seems to have been continued under TINUBU. The continued incarceration of MAZI NNAMDI KANU is the highest insult. Ndigbo, ahoy.”
Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenya in June 2021 and subsequently subjected to extraordinary rendition to Nigeria during the administration of President Buhari. Despite ongoing legal proceedings, Kanu remains in detention, a situation that has sparked calls from various stakeholders for a political resolution to the issue.
The continued imprisonment of Kanu has been a point of contention, with many urging the current administration to seek a peaceful and political solution to the matter.
