RFK Jr. Backs Trump, Drawing Criticism from Kennedy Family

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nephew of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy and son of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy, has officially endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump for president. This unexpected move has sparked strong disapproval from his own family, who view it as a significant departure from their core values.

RFK Jr., who had been running an independent campaign for the presidency, announced his decision to suspend his bid and support Trump in key battleground states. "In about 10 battleground states where my presence would be a spoiler, I'm going to remove my name, and I've already started the process," he stated during a news conference in Arizona.

Kennedy, 70, expressed his disillusionment with the Democratic Party, accusing it of straying from the "core values" he grew up with. He criticized the party's stance on free speech, the war in Ukraine, and what he referred to as "a war on our children" as the primary reasons for his endorsement of Trump.

In response to RFK Jr.'s announcement, his siblings issued a joint statement expressing their disappointment, describing his support for Trump as a "betrayal" of the family's principles. "Our brother Bobby's decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear," they stated.

Trump, who is seeking the presidency for a third time, welcomed Kennedy's endorsement, calling it "an honor."
