Swedish Manager Janne Andersson in Talks with Nigeria Football Federation for Super Eagles Role

Swedish coach Janne Andersson has confirmed ongoing discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding the vacant head coach position for the Super Eagles.

Andersson, who parted ways with the Swedish national team last November, revealed his interest in the role during an interview with Swedish news outlet Expressen on Friday, August 23.

“It’s a huge footballing nation so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach,” said the 61-year-old former Halmstads BK coach. “Dialogue is ongoing and I don’t really want to say more than that.”

Andersson, who has extensive experience in football management, acknowledged the unpredictable nature of such negotiations. “I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happens in the future,” he added.

The NFF is currently seeking a new head coach following the departure of the previous manager, and Andersson's candidacy has sparked significant interest given his notable track record in international football.
