Singer Tems has spoken out against the notion of a standardized dress code for artists, emphasizing the importance of personal expression in her recent interview with Essence Magazine.
Tems highlighted that artists should embrace their unique styles, as individuality is what sets people apart. She explained that her own fashion choices reflect her authenticity rather than an attempt to meet any external expectations.
"Being true to yourself is key, even when others expect something different," Tems stated. "You automatically win when you stay authentic, no matter how that looks. That's why diversity exists."
She went on to challenge the idea that there should be a specific standard for how artists or women should dress, insisting that everyone is unique and shouldn't be confined to any particular expectation.
"There shouldn't be any requirement or expectation that dictates how artists or women should dress," Tems concluded.
