Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has filed a N1 billion lawsuit against social media activist Martins Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan, over alleged defamation and blackmail.
The legal action comes after a viral audio recording surfaced, in which VeryDarkMan accused Bobrisky of bribing officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
Bobrisky, in a statement shared on social media on Sunday, September 28, 2024, claimed the audio was created using artificial intelligence and denied the accusations. His legal team, R.T. Omuvwie & Co., issued a formal demand for an immediate retraction of the defamatory statements and a public apology from VeryDarkMan.
The letter read: “We demand a written apology on behalf of our client, published in two national daily newspapers, along with a video apology on all your social media platforms. Furthermore, you must undertake not to make or publish any defamatory content against our client again and pay N1 billion in damages within 24 hours.”
Bobrisky’s legal team warned that failure to comply with these demands within the stipulated timeframe would result in legal action being taken in court.
The incident has sparked widespread attention on social media, with many users weighing in on the dispute.
