The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Tuesday, October 1st, as a public holiday to mark the country's 64th Independence Anniversary. This was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday, September 28, by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government, extending his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad. He also praised the resilience and hard work of Nigerians, assuring them that their efforts and sacrifices would not go unrecognized.
In line with the anniversary's theme, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of reflecting on the contributions of past heroes and urged Nigerians to unite in building the nation of their dreams. He expressed optimism that a united Nigeria could achieve great progress and urged citizens to remain committed to the country's development.
As Nigerians prepare for the celebrations, the minister wished everyone a Happy Independence Day and called for continued dedication to nation-building efforts.
