Journalist Rufai Oseni has expressed skepticism about the possibility of justice being served in the ongoing prison saga involving crossdresser Bobrisky. His comments come in light of allegations that Bobrisky paid N15 million to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges against him. Reports also suggest that he spent time in a VIP facility rather than a regular prison after receiving a six-month sentence for naira abuse.
The situation has drawn the attention of the House of Representatives, which has summoned key figures, including EFCC Chairman Ola Olukayode, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service Haliru Nababa, and Bobrisky himself. In a letter dated September 27, 2024, the committee requested their appearance on September 30, along with all officers involved in the prosecution.
In a post shared on X, Oseni voiced his concerns, stating, "I will be surprised if justice is done in this prison saga." He referenced previous revelations by journalist Fisayo Soyombo regarding the prison system, noting that despite numerous petitions to authorities, no significant actions have been taken.
Oseni added, “I just hope it will not end in social media clout and defamation suits here and there, and the real issues will not be solved.” He emphasized that vested interests hinder Nigeria's ability to confront societal problems effectively.
