Justice Haleemah Salman of the Kwara State High Court has sentenced five men involved in the notorious Offa robbery to death. The court found them guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide.
Delivering the judgment on September 26, Justice Salman ruled that these offenses, which involved the killing of 30 people during a bank robbery on April 5, 2018, are punishable by death.
The convicted individuals include Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye, and Adeola Abraham. One of the suspects, a former police officer Michael Adikwu, had died in custody before the judgment was passed.
The group was part of the deadly gang that stormed banks in Offa, Kwara State, in a gruesome robbery that shocked the nation.
