The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off several establishments, including a church, printing press, and guest house, over allegations of noise pollution. This was revealed in a statement on Wednesday, September 25, by LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi.
Ajayi explained that the agency's action was part of efforts to enforce compliance with environmental regulations and protect public health. The affected areas included Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland. Among the establishments shut down were Vital Products Limited, A&P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and Terrag Inn Apartment.
Other businesses sealed off include Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of God, a printing press, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites.
Dr. Ajayi emphasized that these establishments had violated environmental laws despite repeated warnings from LASEPA. He urged businesses to understand their environmental responsibilities and work with the government to maintain a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
"LASEPA has taken decisive action to address noise pollution and other environmental violations by sealing multiple establishments across different parts of the state," the statement read. Ajayi reiterated the agency's commitment to enforcing zero tolerance for non-compliance with environmental regulations.
