Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed the significance of President Bola Tinubu's upcoming cabinet reshuffle, stating that it holds little value for Nigerians struggling with tough economic conditions.
The presidency recently announced plans for a cabinet reshuffle, though no specific timeline was provided. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed that while Tinubu intends to reshuffle his team, it remains unclear if the changes will happen before October 1.
Despite the announcement, Galadima believes the reshuffle will not impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he said, "The reshuffle has no relevance to the average Nigerian. What matters most is alleviating the tough living conditions, and that responsibility lies solely with the president."
He went on to criticize the nature of appointments, calling them "job for the boys" and asserting that reshuffling the cabinet would bring no real change. Galadima emphasized that President Tinubu must take full accountability for his cabinet's performance. He also suggested that some of Tinubu's appointees are more focused on personal gain than serving the public.
Expressing his disappointment in Tinubu’s administration, Galadima remarked that he had expected the president to "hit the ground running" after taking office but has been let down by the current situation. He also urged Tinubu to address the ongoing foreign exchange crisis, which has caused the naira to lose significant value.
