VIDEO: Melania Trump Defends Nude Modeling Career Ahead of Memoir Release

Former First Lady Melania Trump has openly defended her past nude modeling work as she promotes her upcoming memoir. On Wednesday, September 18, the 54-year-old former model took to Instagram to address criticism surrounding her previous career, questioning why the media has chosen to focus on her fashion photo shoots.

In her post, Melania asked, "Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot? Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?" Her voiceover accompanied images of famous artistic representations of nude figures, such as Michelangelo's "David," Paul Cézanne's "Bathers," and John Collier's "Lady Godiva."

She continued by emphasizing the long-standing tradition of artists honoring the human form, saying, "Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration. We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression."

Melania, who was born in Slovenia in 1970, began her modeling career as an adult. Reflecting on her past work, she asked in her voiceover, "Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work?" The former First Lady, and mother of one, seems determined to reclaim her modeling past as part of her story, celebrating it as a form of artistic expression.
