Anthony Joshua Faces 28-Day Boxing Ban After Knockout Loss to Daniel Dubois

Anthony Joshua has been suspended from boxing for 28 days following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last week. The match took place at Wembley Stadium in front of 96,000 spectators, where Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round, marking a significant setback for the former champion.

Dubois successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title, showcasing an impressive performance that included knocking Joshua down four times. In line with standard protocols established by the British Boxing Board of Control, Joshua's defeat necessitated a medical suspension, which is common for fighters who experience knockouts or technical knockouts (TKOs).

Despite this temporary ban, Joshua remains determined to continue his boxing career. He has yet to announce his next opponent but affirmed his commitment to the sport following the match. "Do I want to continue fighting? Of course, I want to continue fighting," Joshua stated after the bout. He acknowledged the challenge he faced and expressed his warrior spirit, stating, "We took a shot at success and we came up short. Are we gonna run away? Are we going live to fight another day?"

Joshua also extended praise to Dubois, saying, "We have to give credit to my opponent. When I sign up to fights, I don't really like them in my head anymore, but now it's done, I take my hat off to him and say well done to him and his team."

In the aftermath of the fight, promoter Eddie Hearn had initially mentioned a potential rematch clause for Joshua to face Dubois again. However, he later clarified that no such clause exists and that Joshua has one fight remaining on his contract related to the 'Riyadh Season,' which could include a match against Dubois. Hearn also indicated that other big names, including Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, are under consideration for Joshua’s next fight.

As Joshua recovers from his defeat, the boxing world eagerly awaits news about his future in the ring.
