Deji Adeyanju Provides Update on Speed Darlington's Arrest Following Burna Boy's Petition

Lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has provided an update regarding the recent arrest of singer Speed Darlington. In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Adeyanju revealed that Darlington was apprehended in Lagos on Friday, October 4, and later transferred to Abuja by the police.

The arrest reportedly stems from a petition filed by fellow artist Burna Boy. The petition appears to be linked to a controversial video Speed Darlington shared in September, where he questioned Burna Boy’s sexuality. In the video, Darlington claimed that Burna Boy gained prominence in the U.S. and received a Grammy nomination after forming a close relationship with Diddy. He further insinuated inappropriate conduct, asking if Burna Boy's "bum was greased with oil" due to his association with the embattled singer.

Adeyanju confirmed that he had spoken with Speed Darlington, stating, "We just spent the last 30 minutes with Speed Darlington, and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos last Friday, moved around, and eventually brought to Abuja, where he has been detained. We can confirm the petition was written by Burna Boy."

The situation is still unfolding, with efforts reportedly being made to secure Darlington's release.
