Edo PDP Chairman Alleges Irregularities in Governorship Election, Demands INEC Action

The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, has claimed that there is substantial evidence proving that the recently concluded governorship election in the state was plagued by irregularities.

Aziegbemi made this statement on Wednesday when he led a group of party supporters to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Benin to express their dissatisfaction with the election's outcome.

Joining Aziegbemi in the protest were Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, the Director General of the PDP Campaign Council, and Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director General (Media and Publicity).

During the demonstration, Aziegbemi called on INEC to declare Ighodalo as the rightful winner, accusing the commission of manipulating results in certain local government areas to favor another candidate.

"We appreciate everyone who has joined this journey to reclaim our stolen mandate, which was undermined by both the police and INEC," Aziegbemi said. "Had we lost in a fair and free election, we would have offered our congratulations, but they stole our victory, and for that, we cannot congratulate them."

He urged supporters to remain calm and patient, expressing confidence that the judiciary will carefully review the case and deliver a fair verdict.

"This is Nigeria; we will not allow our victory to be taken from us. We are certain that the overwhelming evidence we will present will help recover our mandate," Aziegbemi added.
