NAFDAC Seizes Counterfeit Cosmetics Worth ₦37 Million in Abuja Raid

 

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) carried out a raid on Monday, September 30, targeting supermarkets and open shops in parts of Abuja, seizing counterfeit cosmetics and unregistered products valued at ₦37 million.

According to a statement released by NAFDAC on Tuesday via its X handle, the operation followed intelligence reports from the agency's Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. The raid, which spanned key areas such as Wuse and Garki markets, was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate counterfeit and illegally imported cosmetic products from the market.

NAFDAC affirmed its commitment to tracing the sources of these counterfeit products and pledged strict regulatory action against the perpetrators. The seized items will be destroyed in accordance with the agency’s regulations to ensure public safety.

The agency also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office for further investigation.
