Electrifying Performances Light Up Felabration 2024 at the New Afrika Shrine

It was an exciting night on Tuesday as music lovers gathered at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos for thrilling performances during the ongoing Felabration 2024. The annual musical festival, held in memory of Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, saw artists like Skales, May D, and Durella electrify the crowd with their energetic performances.

Felabration, with this year’s theme "Look and Laugh," runs from October 14 to October 20 and is packed with a week of events celebrating Fela’s legacy. The New Afrika Shrine was alive with excitement as attendees danced to the beats of Afrobeat, while Durella performed hits like "Shayo," "My Life," and "Wiskolowiska." May D and Skales also kept the audience energized with songs such as "So Many Tinz," "Gat Me High," and "Shayo."

Several attendees shared their excitement about witnessing their favorite artists perform live for the first time. Olumide Sumi, a student, expressed his joy at finally seeing Durella, Skales, and May D in person, describing the experience as "sending shivers down his spine." Yomi Talabi, who attended the event with his brothers, praised the performances and said he was looking forward to the rest of the week’s activities.

Bunmi Ishola, another fun seeker, emphasized the importance of the annual festival in promoting Afrobeats and boosting Lagos' tourism industry. She noted that Felabration has become a platform for exposing Afrobeat music to the global audience and fostering international connections.

The festival, which has attracted renowned artists from around the world, features various activities such as debates, dance contests, and art exhibitions, all in honor of Fela’s cultural contributions.
