The family of the late actor John Amos has expressed concerns over the circumstances surrounding his death and has not ruled out the possibility of foul play, placing blame on his son, Kelly Christopher "KC" Amos.
John Amos, best known for his roles in Good Times and Roots, passed away from natural causes on August 21. However, his daughter Shannon Amos revealed that most of the family only learned about his passing through media reports, raising serious questions about the situation.
Earlier this week, KC released a statement confirming his father's death, but the rest of the family remains skeptical. Amos' goddaughter, Amy Goudy, took to Facebook to accuse KC and two others, Eugene Brummet and Belinda Foster, of isolating the late actor from his family in the months leading up to his death.
In a joint family statement, Shannon, John’s brother Leslie Franklin, and other relatives expressed their sadness and shock at the lack of communication regarding John’s death, as they were unaware he had passed until 45 days later. The family also pointed out that they were not provided with a death certificate and are uncertain of where or why he died. They suspect KC may have arranged for John’s cremation without informing them to avoid a potential investigation.
The family alleges that KC isolated John from his loved ones, controlling his communications and limiting contact with Shannon, his grandchildren, and close friends. They also raised concerns that KC manipulated John into creating a false narrative on social media, portraying a father-son relationship that did not reflect the reality of their situation.
The family further noted that KC had exhibited similar behavior when their mother passed, preventing them from being involved in the decision-making process during her final days. Additionally, they questioned why no medical professionals or authorities informed them of John's death and why an autopsy was not performed.
Shannon also shared on Instagram that someone had pretended to be her at the hospital the night her father died, further fueling the family's suspicions. The family now seeks justice and answers as they mourn the loss of John Amos while expressing their outrage at KC's actions and the involvement of others, whom they believe may have taken advantage of the actor’s vulnerability.
John Amos’ death certificate, obtained by TMZ, confirmed that he was cremated on August 30, just days after his passing, and that KC was listed as the informant. The family remains determined to investigate the situation and uncover the truth behind their loved one’s death.
