Jimmy Carter Casts Ballot at 100, Fulfilling Wish to Vote for Kamala Harris

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter made headlines on October 16 by casting his ballot for the upcoming election, just 15 days after celebrating his 100th birthday. This act fulfills his wish to live long enough to vote for Kamala Harris, whom he supports in her bid against Donald Trump.

Carter voted by mail, utilizing the early voting option available in Georgia, where he has been receiving hospice care. He expressed to his family that participating in this election was more significant to him than his centennial celebration.

According to Georgia state election officials, over 420,000 people had cast their ballots since early voting began on October 15. Carter, who served as a one-term president and is recognized for his humanitarian efforts after leaving office, is noted as the first former U.S. president to reach the age of 100.
