Kazim Adeoti, husband of popular actress Mercy Aigbe, has addressed the controversy surrounding his absence from his first wife, Olufunsho Adeoti’s 50th birthday celebration. Olufunsho, who recently marked her milestone with a party in the United States, did not receive any public acknowledgement from Adeoti, which led to criticism on social media.
In response to the backlash, Adeoti took to his Instagram page to clarify the situation. In a statement shared on his account, the filmmaker revealed that Olufunsho had specifically requested that he neither attend her birthday celebration nor publicly celebrate her on social media. According to Adeoti, he chose to honor her wishes out of respect for her decision.
"She asked me not to attend the party or post anything about her, and I had to respect that," Adeoti explained.
Olufunsho and Adeoti, who share four children, have been the subject of public speculation since Adeoti’s marriage to Mercy Aigbe. This recent clarification aims to put an end to rumors and criticisms regarding his absence from his first wife’s significant event.
