Nigerian Singer Dr Sid Moves to the U.S. for New Career Opportunities

Nigerian singer Sydney Esiri, popularly known as Dr Sid, has confirmed his relocation to the United States. During a recent appearance on the ‘No Man’s Friend’ podcast, the "Over The Moon" singer shared that he moved to the U.S. after securing a job with a company in New York.

"I now live in the U.S. I left Nigeria last year after I got a job with a company in New York that offered me an opportunity to move to the States and live anywhere in the U.S.," Dr Sid explained. "I have family in Houston, and my best friend lives here, so Houston, Texas, was an easy choice. I've been working here for the last year and a half."

Dr Sid first gained widespread recognition in 2002 as a member of Da Trybe, where he featured on the hit track "Oya" alongside notable artists like Sasha, 2-Shotz, and the Trybesmen. He later released his debut solo single "Don’t Stop" in 2003, but temporarily stepped away from music to complete his university education, becoming a qualified dentist.

After working in the UK with artists like JJC & the 419 squad, Felix Duke, and D'Banj, Dr Sid returned to Nigeria in 2007 and fully committed to his music career, signing with Don Jazzy's Mo’ Hits Records. His debut solo album, Turning Point, released in 2010, produced hits like "Over The Moon" and "Pop Something." Following the split between D'banj and Don Jazzy in 2012, Dr Sid joined Mavin Records, where he released his sophomore album Siduction in 2013.

In addition to his music career, Dr Sid made his acting debut in 2014, starring in the film The Last 3 Digits. Despite his successful career in Nigeria, Dr Sid is now focusing on his new life and career in the U.S.
