Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has named two prominent individuals he believes can help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regain power in Nigeria. In a recent video statement, he identified former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Peter Obi as capable candidates to lead the party back to prominence.
Primate Ayodele urged the PDP to consider granting its presidential ticket to both Saraki and Obi, stating, “Saraki-Obi is the answer for PDP. Peter Obi should return to the PDP and contest.” He emphasized that Saraki possesses the qualities of a presidential candidate rather than a party chairman.
He further elaborated, “If the PDP wants to win future elections, David Mark is also a viable option. Saraki is not fit for chairmanship; he is presidential material.”
The PDP has struggled in recent years, having lost the last two presidential elections to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Currently, the party is facing internal leadership challenges, with some members calling for the removal of acting Chairman Umar Damagum. Concerns have been raised by party leaders that Damagum's leadership could potentially undermine the party’s future.
