Regina Askia Weighs In on Femi Falana's Defamation Case Against Very Dark Man

Former Nollywood actress Regina Askia has voiced her opinion on the ongoing defamation case involving legal expert Femi Falana and social critic Martin Otse, also known as Very Dark Man (VDM). Askia acknowledged that Falana has every right to pursue a defamation lawsuit or settle the matter as he sees fit. However, she expressed concern that the underlying issues which led to the defamatory remarks have been ignored.

The Ikeja High Court recently ruled on Monday, October 14, that VDM must delete his defamatory posts about the Falana family. The court also directed that the defamation suit be served to VDM through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

Following the court’s decision, a false report circulated on social media, claiming that VDM had been fined N500 million. In response, Askia took to Instagram, questioning the legitimacy of the reported fine and pointing out that no action seemed to be taken against the individual responsible for the claims in the audio recording VDM released.

However, Askia faced backlash from individuals in her comment section who accused her of promoting a "negative narrative" about the case. Defending her stance, Askia argued that while VDM appears to be made the scapegoat, the core issue — the revelations in the audio tape — remains unaddressed.

The case continues to generate controversy, with public attention now shifting to both the defamation lawsuit and the content of the audiotape that initially sparked the conflict.
