Roberto Mancini Departs as Manager of Saudi Arabia's National Football Team

Roberto Mancini has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of the Saudi Arabian men's national football team after a tenure of 14 months. His departure follows a series of speculations regarding his position within the organization.

Mancini was appointed to the role in August 2023 on a lucrative four-year contract, reportedly worth £21 million per year. His hiring came shortly after he resigned as manager of Italy, where he achieved significant success by leading the team to victory in the UEFA European Championship in 2021.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced that a mutual agreement had been reached to terminate Mancini's contract. In a statement, the Federation expressed gratitude to Mancini for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors.

"The Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Federation and the coach of the national team, Italian Roberto Mancini, reached a joint agreement today that includes termination of the contractual relationship," the statement read.

Mancini leaves the team as they sit in third place in Group C of the third round of the Asian qualification process for the 2026 World Cup. The Federation confirmed that they would announce the name of the new head coach in the coming days after finalizing contractual arrangements.
