Music producer Sam Pounds, who recently announced the release of a final single he collaborated on with the late Liam Payne, has opted to postpone the track out of respect for Payne's grieving family. The single, titled "Do No Wrong," was initially slated for release this Friday. However, Pounds announced the delay on social media, explaining that Payne’s family would ultimately decide if or when the track might be shared publicly.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Pounds shared, “Today I’m deciding to hold Do No Wrong and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds to go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire).” Although he expressed his admiration for the song, he acknowledged that “it’s simply not the time yet,” affirming that everyone would patiently await a decision from Payne's loved ones.
Initially, Pounds envisioned the song as a tribute that could “be a blessing to the world” and celebrate Payne’s legacy. After some reflection, however, he withdrew earlier posts promoting the single’s release, realizing it may feel premature to the public and Payne's family, who continue to mourn his recent passing.
Payne, a prominent member of One Direction, contributed to five best-selling albums with the group before launching his solo career, which included his 2019 album LP1. His latest project, Building the Band, a Netflix singing competition series, has been placed on hold as his family and fans come to terms with the loss.
Liam Payne leaves behind his parents, Geoff and Karen, his sisters, Ruth and Nicola, and his 7-year-old son, Bear.
