Tems Discusses Fame and Its Challenges in Nigeria

R&B star Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has opened up about her celebrity status and the challenges it brings in Nigeria. In a recent podcast interview with Big Boy TV in the United States, the singer expressed her belief that she is "super famous" in her home country.

Tems recounted a particularly harrowing experience from last December when she nearly faced a mob while driving in Lagos. This incident led her to realize the extent of her popularity, prompting her to adopt measures for safety. "I used to drive in Nigeria, but now I can’t drive. I almost got mobbed last December. If I want to drive, I must have police escorts at the front and the back,” she shared.

The artist also revealed that she has struggled with the pressures of fame, especially as an introvert, but has since learned to navigate her newfound status.
