Third Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump Thwarted by Police in California

U.S. authorities have stopped a third assassination attempt targeting former President Donald Trump. A man from Las Vegas, identified as Vem Miller, was arrested with weapons and fake credentials near a Trump rally in Coachella Valley, California, according to Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco.

Miller was stopped at a security checkpoint, where deputies discovered a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine in his possession. He also presented counterfeit VIP and press passes, raising suspicions. Sheriff Bianco stated that Miller is believed to be part of a right-wing, anti-government group, and was potentially planning to assassinate Trump.

"They were different enough to cause the deputies alarm,” Bianco explained. “We likely prevented another assassination attempt."

Miller is reported to identify as a "sovereign citizen," part of a movement that rejects government authority unless they personally consent to it. He was taken into custody for carrying a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine, both of which are misdemeanors. He was later released on bail, posting $5,000 for each charge, according to police records.

This incident comes amid heightened security concerns for Trump’s campaign, following two previous assassination attempts earlier this year. The first took place on July 13, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks shot at Trump, hitting his ear before being killed by Secret Service agents. The second attempt occurred on August 15, when 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested in Florida for allegedly aiming a rifle at Trump while he was golfing.

Trump's team remains vigilant as these threats continue to emerge during his appearances across the country.
