Former First Lady Melania Trump has finally addressed the viral moment when she was seen swatting her husband Donald Trump's hand away during a red-carpet walk in 2017. The incident, which took place at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport during a visit with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, sparked widespread speculation and media attention at the time.
In her upcoming memoir, Melania, the former First Lady downplays the event, describing it as "a minor, innocent gesture." According to Melania, the red carpet simply wasn't wide enough to comfortably accommodate all four individuals walking side by side.
"The red carpet simply could not accommodate four of us abreast," she writes in an excerpt obtained by The New York Times. "It was a minor, innocent gesture, nothing more."
Melania’s clarification comes as her husband, Donald Trump, campaigns once again for the U.S. presidency. The incident, which led to significant media speculation about their relationship, is just one of the many topics she addresses in her memoir, set to be released on October 8.
The video of the moment has resurfaced in light of her new comments, reminding the public of the media frenzy it once caused.
