Ariana Grande Reverts to Full Birth Name in 'Wicked' Credits After Reconnecting with Father

American singer and actress Ariana Grande has made a heartfelt change to her name in the credits of her upcoming film Wicked, now listed as "Ariana Grande-Butera." This decision follows her recent reconnection with her father, Ed Butera, as reported by E! News.

Grande's full name combines her mother Joan Grande's surname and her father's name, reflecting a personal milestone in her life. The name change signifies a renewed bond between Ariana and her estranged father, with whom she had lost touch since 2013.

The singer’s father, a graphic designer, and her mother, Joan, divorced when Ariana was just eight years old. The impact of their separation has been evident in her music, including the 2018 hit "Thank U, Next," where she expressed her feelings about their relationship. In the song, she reflects, "One day I’ll walk down the aisle/ holding hands with my mama/ I’ll be thanking my dad ’cause she grew from the drama."

Ariana has previously described the estrangement as "one of the hardest things" she faced, revealing in a 2014 interview with Seventeen that it took her time to come to terms with their differences. "So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself," she shared. "I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them."

In a touching social media post in 2017, Ariana offered fans a glimpse of her improving relationship with her father by sharing a throwback photo of him and writing, "I love you." The change in her credits for Wicked reflects not only her artistic journey but also her personal growth and healing within her family dynamics.
