Manchester United Appoints Ruben Amorim as New Head Coach

Manchester United has officially announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager will transition from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford, with his start date set for November 11. Amorim has signed a contract that extends until June 2027, with an option for an additional year.

Amorim will lead his first match with United against Ipswich Town on November 24. He takes over from Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed last month. In the interim, Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage the first team until Amorim arrives.

In a statement, Manchester United expressed their excitement about the appointment, highlighting Amorim as one of the most promising and highly regarded young coaches in European football. The club noted that he has a commendable track record, having won the Primeira Liga twice with Sporting CP, including leading them to their first title in 19 years.

The statement also acknowledged Amorim's managerial journey, which began in 2019 at Braga after he retired as a player in 2017. Since taking charge at Sporting in March 2020, he has quickly made a name for himself, securing two Primeira Liga titles and three Taca da Liga trophies—twice with Sporting and once with Braga.

As Amorim prepares for his new role, Manchester United fans and officials alike are hopeful that his leadership will usher in a new era of success for the club.
