Trump Names Susie Wiles as First Female White House Chief of Staff

President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Susie Wiles, his campaign manager credited with his recent electoral victory, as White House Chief of Staff, marking her as the first woman to hold the influential role. Known for her disciplined and focused approach, Wiles led what many describe as Trump’s most organized campaign, winning admiration from both Trump’s inner circle and broader political circles.

Wiles has a long-standing rapport with Trump, managing to guide his campaign without confrontation, often keeping his impulses in check by earning his respect rather than critiquing him. Despite her lack of direct government experience, she is praised by Trump for her dedication and effectiveness. In a statement, Trump called Wiles “tough, smart, innovative,” expressing confidence that she will help “Make America Great Again” in her new role. He noted that her appointment as the first female Chief of Staff in U.S. history is a “well-deserved honor.”

The chief of staff position, according to Chris Whipple, author of The Gatekeepers, is central to an effective administration. Successful chiefs often serve as trusted advisors, balancing policy and political needs while also acting as gatekeepers for the president. Whipple highlighted Wiles’ ability to handle Trump’s strong personality, calling it a valuable asset, but noted her limited experience in Washington as a potential disadvantage.

Wiles has worked as a Republican strategist for decades, playing pivotal roles in Trump’s campaigns in Florida in 2016 and 2020, and managing high-profile political campaigns, including Rick Scott’s 2010 Florida gubernatorial run.

Chris LaCivita, who co-managed Trump’s campaign alongside Wiles, publicly expressed his pride, referring to her as one of the “fiercest and most loyal warriors” he’s worked with. Trump frequently praised her leadership on the campaign trail, mentioning her exceptional work at rallies and often noting that his recent campaign was his “best-run.”

Wiles’ new role is expected to be a defining test for Trump’s administration, as she steps into one of the White House’s most demanding positions, overseeing the team that will help govern and implement Trump’s agenda.
