Disney Influencer Dominique Brown Dies Following Medical Emergency at Los Angeles Event

Dominique Brown, a beloved Disney-inspired social media influencer and co-founder of Black Girl Disney, tragically passed away on December 5, 2024, after suffering a medical emergency during a lunch event in downtown Los Angeles. The event, hosted by pop-culture retailer BoxLunch, was designed to celebrate Disney-themed merchandise and influencers. Brown, 34, had been attending the gathering when she reportedly had an adverse reaction, believed to be linked to a severe peanut allergy.

According to a post on X from a user claiming to be Brown’s mother’s best friend, the influencer had been assured that no peanuts were included in the food served at the event. However, after consuming the meal, she began to feel unwell and requested to be taken to the hospital. Tragically, despite immediate efforts to help, Brown passed away. An investigation into the cause of her death is currently underway, as reported by SFGate.

BoxLunch issued a statement to Us Weekly expressing their devastation over Brown's passing. "We are heartbroken over the passing of Dominique Brown, a beloved member of the BoxLunch Collective," the statement read. "Our hearts go out to her family and friends, and we will do everything we can to support them during this painful time." The company also confirmed that emergency services were immediately contacted after Brown’s condition worsened, and that they had made the venue aware of the food allergies of all guests present.

In a poignant moment, Brown’s brother shared a heartfelt message on her final Instagram post, thanking her social media community for their love and support. He expressed his deep sadness at losing his sister and best friend, describing her infectious smile and the joy she found in the Disney community. Brown’s last Instagram post, shared just before the event, featured her wearing a Winnie the Pooh sweater, which she had credited to BoxLunch.

Brown was well-known for co-founding Black Girl Disney in 2018 alongside her friend Mia Von. The platform was created to address the lack of representation of Black women within the Disney influencer space. Her dedication to the community she built and her love for Disney left a lasting impact on her followers and fellow influencers alike.

A source at the event revealed that CPR was administered to Brown as paramedics were called to the scene. Brown had most recently attended the premiere of Moana 2, a notable event within the Disney community. In the wake of her passing, tributes have poured in from friends and fans alike, including a post on Threads by a friend who wrote, “This didn’t have to happen. 😔…it just didn’t.”

Dominique Brown’s untimely death has left the Disney fan community mourning the loss of a vibrant, passionate advocate for inclusivity and representation.
