Saudi Arabian authorities have apprehended four Nigerian nationals for trafficking 39 kilograms of cocaine, marking another significant bust in the kingdom’s ongoing fight against drug-related crime. The arrests were made by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, who discovered the individuals distributing the illicit drugs from their hideouts in Jeddah, according to a report from the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
The arrests are part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia, with authorities intensifying their efforts to combat the flow of narcotics into the country. In a related operation, Border Guard patrols in the Jazan region intercepted 270 kilograms of qat in Al-Aridah and another 126 kilograms in Al-Dayer. A local citizen was also arrested in Al-Dayer for attempting to smuggle qat in his vehicle.
In addition, a Pakistani national was detained in the Eastern Province for selling methamphetamine, also known as shabu.
Following the arrests, preliminary legal procedures have been completed, and all confiscated drugs have been handed over to the relevant authorities. Saudi security officials have once again urged the public to report any information about drug smuggling or trafficking to aid ongoing efforts to curb the drug trade in the kingdom.
