The State House has earmarked a total of N15.09 billion for the procurement of tyres for various vehicles, including bulletproof cars, SUVs, and operational vehicles, as well as for the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
Additionally, a sum of N5.49 billion has been allocated for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa. These details were revealed in the 2025 Appropriation Bill released by the Budget Office of the Federation.
President Bola Tinubu presented the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity” to the National Assembly on Wednesday, December 18, unveiling a spending plan of N49.70 trillion for the coming year.
Tyres and Vehicles:
- N164 million will be spent on tyres for bulletproof vehicles, plain cars, SUVs, platform trucks, and other operational vehicles.
- N1.1 billion has been allocated for replacing SUV vehicles.
- N3.66 billion is set aside for purchasing State House operational vehicles.
Presidential and Vice Presidential SUVs:
- N127.86 million will cover the procurement of SUVs for the President and Vice President.
- N285 million is allocated for vehicle purchases under the office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
- The Chief Security Officer to the President is allocated N179.63 million for acquiring security and operational vehicles.
Office Construction:
- N1.83 billion is designated for the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
Honorarium and Allowances:
- N2.12 billion will go towards honorarium and sitting allowances.
The Presidential Villa’s annual maintenance is expected to cost N5.49 billion, ensuring the upkeep of the seat of power.
The significant allocations for vehicles and maintenance have sparked discussions among Nigerians, with some questioning the prioritization of these expenditures amid economic challenges. However, the government maintains that these allocations are necessary to ensure the smooth operation of state functions.
The 2025 Appropriation Bill is now before the National Assembly for approval, with debates expected in the coming weeks.
